MAIA well co. was founded by Zoe-Maia, a Holistic Health Coach, Psychology Graduate and Pilates Instructor.
Whilst studying Psychology at university, Zoe-Maia became fascinated when learning about how and why people come to make certain decisions in life, particularly in the areas of diet and lifestyle, when they are aware of the fact that they are harming their minds and bodies, day in day out. Was it an addiction, or was it that the general public are simply unaware of the negative effects their diet and lifestyle choices were having upon their health?
Through her early career, she became a victim of her own concerns without even being aware of it herself. After numerous doctors appointments, she began to realise that the symptoms she had been experiencing were purely a result of stress and so became both intrigued and concerned around how much stress can affect the body in ways which just cannot be seen. If it was happening to her, it must be happening to many others and it needed to stop.
Zoe-Maia decided to reassess her life, going back to basics and rather than purely focusing on her diet, she became mindful about various other factors that were affecting her life and in turn her health - everything from her career, lifestyle and exercise habits. After slowing down and spending more time practicing less intensive forms of exercise such as Yoga and Pilates, she started to deeply appreciate the calming and beneficial effects on not only her body but her mind. She wanted to share her love for these experiences with others so began training as a Pilates instructor with the highly respected Balanced Body in London to deepen her knowledge and understanding of the practice.
Zoe-Maia had always known that she wanted to build a business that she felt hugely passionate about and where she could help others. Recognising that stress, fatigue, depression, overwork, anxiety and physical pain are all being reported as a result of our working lifestyles, through the addition of her personal experience, she understands the importance of maintaining wellbeing in the workplace and her mission is to make it more accessible to everyone. She appreciates the challenges that arise in finding the time during a busy working week to dedicate to oneself, which is why she’s so passionate about removing this obstacle and bringing it to you.
MAIA well co. now has a team of wellbeing practitioners that support our mission of building and sustaining a happier and healthier workforce in as many companies in the UK that we’re fortunate enough to work with. We run bespoke corporate wellbeing programmes offering Yoga (including Dynamic Vinyasa, Restorative Yin, Hatha and Rocket), Pilates (mat based with small equipment), Nutrition (inc. topics such as Sleep, Gut Health, Seasonal Wellbeing, Hormones, Immune Systems, Digestion, Mental Health and more), Mindfulness (meditation and breath-work) and Postural Alignment Therapy.
